Hostels in Cusco
There are a few recommended areas to stay in Cusco:
Plaza de Armas – The main square in Cusco, from where tours and leading treks depart. The area is surrounded by cathedrals, upscale shops, and restaurants. Nearby, you’ll also find San Pedro Market, a great place for shopping and affordable food.
San Blas – The bohemian neighborhood of Cusco. Here, you’ll find interesting restaurants, a small market, and unique shops. The neighborhood is a 10-minute walk from the main square, but be aware it’s uphill, so keep that in mind.
Party Hostels:

If you’re looking for nightlife, the two main hostels in the area are Wild Rover and Loki. Both are less than a 10-minute uphill walk from the main square, offering vibrant nightlife. Nearby, you’ll also find the luxurious Hilton hotel. I usually took a taxi to this area and walked back down.
Keep in mind that staying in this area can leave you a bit “detached” from the main square. Hotels and hostels in the area understand this, and most offer a restaurant inside the property.
Selina Boutique Hostels

A new hostel with a modern and cozy design. The private rooms feature a double bed, a work desk, and a specious locker.
The dorms are equipped with comfortable bunk beds with privacy curtains, USB ports, and spacious lockers. The hostel also has a well-equipped and spotless kitchen, a dining room, a cinema room, and a library. The cherry on top is the weekly yoga classes for a symbolic fee.
This hostel is perfect for travelers seeking peace, privacy, and comfort. However, it might not be ideal for solo travelers, as it can be a bit harder to meet people in the common areas compared to other hostels, but this also depends on timing.

A new hostel in a fantastic location near the main square. At the center of the hostel is a courtyard where everyone gathers for breakfast, making it easier to connect with others.
Bottom line – If you’re looking for high standards, Selina is definitely for you. If you’re traveling alone, choose Selina Plaza de Armas, and if you want privacy, go for Selina Saphi.
Pariwana – A large and friendly hostel near San Pedro Market. It features a courtyard with a ping-pong table and seating areas, making it ideal for solo travelers or those looking for a fun atmosphere in the evenings.

Hotels
If you’re looking to splurge, opt for the Hilton Hotel or Casa Andina, both offering high-level hospitality experiences.

Hostels in Arequipa

A stunning hostel with a small central pool, bean bags, a cinema room, and more.
The hostel boasts a small pool surrounded by lounge beds and bean bags. In the central area, you’ll also find a treehouse, slackline rope, and fabrics for aerial yoga. The hostel also has a souvenir shop, a cinema room, and a coworking space for those who need to work.
The private rooms are spacious cottages, suitable for groups or families.
The upgraded dorms feature a mix of regular and bunk beds. Besides the privacy curtains, each bed has a small box to charge and secure your devices.
The bathrooms were a bit older, as Selina took over an old hotel, and some windows lacked curtains, but we managed fine.
Los Andes Arequipa –A quiet and pleasant place, known for cleanliness and good service, perfect for those seeking peace and tranquility.

Wild Rover Arequipa – A party hostel with serious festivities, a pool, and a restaurant. If you’re looking for a lively atmosphere, this is the place for you. Beware of potential issues with bar staff and thefts from lockers.

Hostels in Huacachina
There aren’t many accommodation options in Huacachina, but there’s something for every type of traveler.

I stumbled upon this hotel after an unpleasant experience at a nearby party hostel, while searching for a proper breakfast.
The hotel looks more luxurious than the others in the area, but the price is totally worth it!
The hotel offers dorms as well as private rooms. It has a fun pool and a restaurant with great food at amazing prices.
There’s an active bar near the pool, but the music usually stops by 1 a.m. If you’re looking for peace and quiet, choose a room farther from the pool.
The staff is very friendly, and many of them speak Hebrew. However, there have been complaints about Israeli guests smoking in common areas, as the hotel is family-friendly, and smoking is prohibited, so keep that in mind.
Wild Rover:

This hostel hosts parties from morning until night—literally. The staff starts pumping music for guests from noon, and it goes on until 2 a.m.
Besides the parties, you’ll find a pool (often dirty with sand and other debris) and a restaurant.
The reception staff was super professional and nice, but I have to say the bar/restaurant staff was terrible and made me want to leave. The hostel also had issues with locker thefts, even from locked rooms.
Bananas Adventure:

A super cool hostel with a huge pool, hammocks, and lots of young travelers. Great conditions at a higher price, but totally worth it.
La Casa de Bamboo:
A quiet hostel with an excellent restaurant worth visiting, even if you’re not staying there. Highly recommended for those seeking a more relaxed atmosphere.

Hostels in Lima
In a big city like Lima, the most recommended neighborhood is Miraflores. Choose accommodation around the central square where you’ll find restaurants, shops, and plenty of activities.
Note: Miraflores is about an hour from the airport (even more during rush hour), but even if you’re only spending one night, it’s better to stay here, as the area around the airport isn’t safe for travelers.

Selina is located right near Che Lagarto in the main square area. The hostel has an incredibly cool design, and there’s a café at the entrance overlooking the street.
The hostel offers high-level dorms like the rest of the Selina network, and even gorgeous suites with a view of the city.
Selina also has a beautiful apartment hotel with fully equipped rooms, kitchens, and more – Selina Apartments.

This hostel is part of the Che Lagarto chain and is located right next to the main action in Miraflores. I stayed in a private room because of the affordable price.
